You’ll learn to educate the next generation as you prepare for one of the world’s most important professions. CMU’s elementary education students master the basics of teaching math, language arts, reading, science and social studies in classrooms ranging from prekindergarten through eighth grade. You’ll choose from a variety of majors. Pre student teaching and student teaching experiences offer you a variety of options, both minutes away from campus or abroad.
Students interested in obtaining the Michigan Standard Teaching Certificate must complete the Bachelor of Science in Education degree in the desired level and appropriate content area(s), including the following:
- Early Child Development & Learning
- English as Second Language minor
- Integrated Science
- Language Arts
- Reading in Elementary Grades minor
- Social Studies: Geography
- Social Studies: History
