It's where you'll stay up too late, making memories that last a lifetime. It's where you'll meet friends who'll be there for the rest of your life. It'll be where your #lifeatCentral begins! When you fill out your housing application, you'll be asked about a few different preferences so we can help make your first home away from home a perfect as possible.

Why live on campus?

Science says you’ll do better in college compared to your peers when you live on campus*. You'll earn better grades, be more involved in activities and events, and will have a better college experience when you live on campus. That’s why we have a residency requirement for first- and second-year students. (Not including transfers.)

Choose your meal plan

We like options here. That includes how you fuel your education. Choose from all sorts of foods from American fare to Mongolian BBQ, and so much more. And we have dietary options for everyone. Gluten free? We got you. Vegetarian or vegan? No problem. Have an allergy? Let us know, and we’ll make sure you don’t run into it while you’re eating.

Our meal plans range from all access to just 12 meals a week, and allow you to choose any of our four dining halls for your meals. You’ll also get FLEX Dollars, which are as good as cash at any one of the 18 dining locations and several convenience stores around campus.

Answer a lifestyle quiz

Let's get to know each other better! Our lifestyle quiz helps us get to know you better, so we can find you the best fit. Our goal is to make sure you’re supported and comfortable while you’re living here. Some questions you can expect are:

  • Do you prefer to keep things neat in your bedroom, or are you OK with some mess?
  • Do you shower in the morning or before bed?
  • Do you like staying up late, or waking up early?
  • What do you like to do for fun?
  • Where would you prefer to live?

Get your roommates

Use our roommate matching tool in the housing application to find people you feel comfortable living with, whether that’s a friend you already know or someone brand new.

In June, we’ll use the information you gave us to place you in a residence hall room. Then in August, you’ll get an email with roommate contact information if you haven’t already met them. Remember to check your cmich.edu email regularly.
