ORIENTATION REGISTRATION

Find out what steps you need to take to get registered for orientation. Then, get to know CMU!

Register for Orientation

Your orientation

Get to know CMU, plan your classes one-on-one with your advisor (a requirement for enrolling) and learn about what life is like here.

We'll cover all the basic information: housing, meal plans, classes, support services, etc. And you’ll also get the chance to meet with student mentors, financial consultants and career coaches and connect with your fellow CMU Chippewas! Your one-on-one advisor appointment time lets you meet your advisor and map out a plan for your first year of classes here.

This is going to look familiar. Don’t worry! It’s the same place you submitted your application and committed to CMU. Keep in mind you'll need to submit your deposit before you can sign up for orientation. If you haven't done it yet, we can walk you through the process .

Remember that Global ID you activated? You get to use it again! It has the first five letters of your last name, a number and then your first and middle initials. If your name is Ursula Phoebe Fired, it’ll look like “fired1up.”

Log in using your Global ID on this page.

  • If you haven’t activated your account yet, find your admission letter, go to myaccount.cmich.edu/NewAccount, enter your PIN from the letter and personal info, agree to the computer and network policies for campus, and set your password.
  • Can’t find your letter? Contact the Help Desk at 989-774-3662 or by emailing helpdesk@cmich.edu.

Tell us your interests

It could be art. Maybe it’s math. Theater and geology? It could be anything! Or maybe you don’t know yet. That’s OK, too.

At orientation, you’ll register for your first year of classes. We use the answers you put in your academic interests to find classes you may be interested in. You’ll work with your advisor to narrow down that list of possible classes and find a good place to start your academic journey here at CMU. And remember, your advisor is eager to help you. Don’t be afraid to reach out and ask questions, even before you start classes!

Choose your date

Orientation dates are from May through August. They are filled in a first-come, first-served fashion, so make sure to choose your date as soon as possible.

Plus, if you have supporters like Mom and Dad, Aunt May and Uncle Bob or chosen family, they are welcome to join you at orientation. In fact, they’ll even have a few breakout sessions of their own, so they can learn how to best support you through the transition to college and while you’re in school.

You’ve got your spot. You’ve got your date.

Now it's time for your #LifeAtCentral!
